Are You Giving to the Fund for Purchase of the Taylor Property?
We were recently blessed with a bequest that made it possible for us to pay off the loan on the Taylor property.  What a blessing!  But that wouldn’t have been possible without the faithful giving of all of our members who have been going the second mile, giving beyond your offerings to the general fund!  Thank you!  Now that we have paid off the mortgage, we are receiving questions about whether people should continue to give to this fund.  The Finance Committee has said that the fund (actually called “property acquisition and future expansion”) will continue – for those who would like to continue giving.  We are aware that in the future, we will need funds for “future expansion,” and so it is good that we continue to build up the money in that account.  Of course, you may wish to shift your giving to other projects in the church, or increase your giving to the general fund.  It’s entirely up to you.  Thank you for your generosity!

Fresh Expression Weekend a Great Success!
We had a great “Fresh Expression Weekend” at our church!  It was great to hear Michael Beck and have him lead us in a workshop.  Out of that workshop, we have formed a “Fresh Expressions Team” of ten volunteers to help make our new bike trail “church” a success, and to encourage other new fresh expressions of church!  In fact, at the workshop we also gave birth to a “dinner church” that may take place on Friday nights!  Exciting stuff!  We’d love for you to join our “Fresh Expression Team!”  Contact me (Pastor John).

Robert Rember to Preach All Services this Weekend
I (Pastor John) am having out patient surgery on Wednesday (nothing serious), and so I will not be able to preach this weekend.  Robert Rember will bring our message at all services!  Come out and support him and hear his word from the Lord!

“Hanging of the Greens” Decorating the Church This Sunday
After the Traditional Service this Sunday, Nov. 25, we will be decking the halls for the holidays.  Plan to stay to help.  We will order pizza for those who stay to decorate.  Don’t miss this fun kick-off to the holidays!

Advent Bible Study to Begin on Dec. 3
I (Pastor John) will not be up to teaching Bible Study on Monday, Nov. 26 as previously announced.  The Study will begin on Dec. 3 (10 a.m. or 6:30 p.m.).  We will look at the scriptures related to the Christmas story.  Bring your Bible.

Foster Family Encouragement
There is a wonderful couple in Mims who have been caring for foster children for nearly 15 years.  Currently they are caring for four children (ages 10, 9, 6, and a baby with medical needs).  We have the opportunity of “adopting” this lovely family, praying for them, encouraging them, and loving on them.  If you would like to be part of this ministry, contact me (Pastor John).

Jessie Barrett Needs a Ride to Church
We are thrilled that Jessie is doing much better after her time of recuperation in the nursing home.  She is now physically able to attend worship, and would love to – if she can get a ride.  She lives at Titusville Tower (405 Indian River Ave.).  If you could pick her up and give her a ride, please call the church office (321-267-6202).

Murder Mystery Dinner, Dec. 14
Join us Friday, Dec. 14, at 6:30 p.m. (doors open at 6:00 p.m.) at the “Moxley Estate” (aka Fellowship Hall) for a cocktail party murder mystery.  Tickets are $15 and are only available in advance, due to limited seating.  Tickets are available in the church office, from Erika Watson, or Julie Harrison.  Don’t miss the fun and a great meal!

Mullet Festival Update
After all expenses, including donations to the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home and the Florida Baptist Children’s Home of $3,600 each, the Festival this year netted $8,323.61.  Thanks to all who made this possible.

Don’t Miss Church This Weekend!

Don’t Miss Church This Weekend!

You won’t want to miss the activities this weekend at Mims UMC!  It’s Fresh Expressions Weekend!

We have a dynamic special guest preacher this weekend for all services.  Rev. Michael Beck will preach at all services, sharing how “Fresh Expressions of Church” can revitalize churches and communities for Christ!  The church he and his wife serve, Wildwood UMC, had only 30 in worship when he went there four years ago.  Today it is a bustling growing congregation with 13 “Fresh Expressions” that take place in many setting all across their community.  Our Bike Trail initiative is a Fresh Expression, so we are very excited to have Michael here to share.  Following the 11:00 a.m.service this Sunday we will all enjoy a covered dish lunch, followed immediately by a lively workshop on Fresh Expressions.  You will thoroughly enjoy Michael and be exited about the potential for the transformation that is possible for us at Mims UMC!  Don’t miss it!

Here is the schedule:

Saturday 7:00 p.m.  Worship with Michael Beck preaching

Sunday 8:30 a.m.  Worship with Michael Beck preaching

Sunday 11:00 a.m. Worship with Michael Beck preaching

Sunday noon Church-wide Covered Dish Lunch (A-F Meat; G-L Salad; M-R Dessert; S-Z Vegetables)

Sunday 1:00 p.m. Church workshop on Fresh Expressions

I hope to see everyone on Saturday and/or Sunday!
