Church News for November

So much happening at Mims UMC!  Here is what you need to know:

This Saturday/Sunday
This weekend, we will conclude our Sermon Series on “The Other Lord’s Prayer,” where Jesus prays that we will live and share the Good News.  This Sunday is also Veterans’ Day, and so at all three services we will be recognizing the Vets among us.  If you served, you are welcome to wear your uniform or other item that represents your service.  Bless you for your willingness to serve your country!

November 17 and 18:  “Fresh Expressions Weekend” at Mims UMC
Be sure to be in worship next weekend to hear our guest preacher for all services, Rev. Michael Beck.  Michael is one of the pastors at Wildwood UMC, and is also the South Atlantic Coordinator of Fresh Expressions US.  Our new Rails-to-Trails bike ministry is a “Fresh Expression of Church.”  (Pastor John will also be here at all services.)  Following the 11:00 a.m. service, we will hold a church-wide covered dish lunch, followed at 1:00 p.m. by a workshop for the congregation on Fresh Expressions, led by Rev. Beck.  You will enjoy it! DON’T MISS IT!

Drop By Our Bike Ministry This Saturday for Breakfast
Our bike ministry is up and running every Saturday morning, thanks to a great team of volunteers.  This Saturday would be a great time to drop by to find out what its all about – they will be serving complementary breakfasts!  Just go to the warehouse building on the west side of our campus.

Last Soccer Match This Saturday
Our church has sponsored an Under-6 year old soccer team, and this Saturday, Nov. 10 (10:30 on field 10), is their last game.  The games are played at Chain of Lakes (off of Truman Scarborough).  Bring you lawn chair and cheer on the Fireballs!

Our Dinner on Nov. 14 (5 p.m.) will feature Stuffed Bell Peppers, Mashed Potatoes, Corn, Salad, Bread, and Dessert.  $8.  The winter folk are back, so come early!

Covered Dish Lunch, Sunday, November 18
Plan to join us for a church-wide covered dish lunch following the traditional service.  Bring the following dishes, based on the first letter of your last name: A-F = Meat;  G-L = Salad;  M-R = Dessert;  S-Z = Vegetables.  Then stay for the workshop on Fresh Expressions at 1:00 p.m.
